Whenever I tell people about this upcoming trip, there are about three different responses they typically come up with:
How much does that cost?!
Quite a lot. But not anything Jesus can't handle.
Do you know *insert name here* in *insert country here*?
Why yes, I've met every single volunteer worker or local in every single country I've ever been. AND I remember all of their names. I'm a genius and have an unlimited amount of time.
Your parents must be awesome to let you do that!
Yes. Yes they are. I mean, just look at them. How could people that gorgeous not be awesome.
Back when I was in Haiti, laying on the cement and not able to move because of the Dengue fever, I thought for sure that they would never let me go to another tropical country ever again in my life. I'm so glad that the Lord has been able to give them a peace about me going out again. There are an unlimited amount of things that could go wrong, but they are the greatest about everything. They are so supportive of everything I do and I'm so blessed to have them involved in my life.
It completely amazes me how generous they are with their finances. They've never been the type to get hugely in debt, and that allows them to give freely to those in need. Ever since I can remember, we've had photos of missionaries and children they support on the fridge. I'm so glad they chose to spend in that way rather than buying fancy cars or huge houses. They are now one of my biggest financial supporters and it's such a blessing to have them help in that way. I'm so glad the Lord has blessed my dad with a great job and steady income and that both my parents are able to use that for His glory.
My mom is taking a bunch of time off this week and next just to help me finish up things that need to be done - hemming pants for my short little legs, sewing a cover for my kindle, helping pack and clean, and really anything she can. She's always willing to help in whatever way she can. Thanks to all the lovely people at her office for giving her up for a few days!
Many thanks to both of my parents for being so fabulous. There's no way I could ever thank you enough for all you do. Love you!
It's not hard to be 'awesome parents' when you have such an awesome daughter! We are SO PROUD of you, Jill, not just for what you're doing, but for who you are! Our God, and your God, is truly working in your life - that's pretty awesome in itself! And we know He is going to use you mightily!
